| About the Barn |
|
| The interior is a delight! It is unusually
grand with six huge stone arches, half hammer beams and
a flagstone floor. The old grain bins have been opened
into a balcony with the kitchen area below and cloakroom
facilities in the adjoining stables. The barn is also
fully insulated and has underfloor heating for those cooler
days. |
|
| The adjacent meadow is available for use
in conjunction with the building. There is ample tarmac
car parking available for over 80 cars and is located
close to the Barn, as well as disabled access. Click
here to view a PDF file of the floor plans. |
|
| When hiring the Barn, we can recommend
a variety of suppliers, from caterers to vintage cars,
florists to entertainers. The Barn is within easy reach
of London, Guildford, Portsmouth, Winchester and Chichester. |

| History of the Building |
|
| The Tithe Barn is ideally situated in 300
acres of farm land at Old Ditcham Farm, beneath Beech
hangers and located close to the end of the South Downs
Way. |
|
| The hamlet of Ditcham dates back to Saxon
times. The lands were given to the Abbey of Durford by
the Lord of the Manor of Harting in 1273. |
|
| The Barn appears and disappears from maps
over the centuries and the origin of the present building
is shrouded in mystery. The Barn was originally of cruciate
form and it has been returned to this condition. |
|
| The Tithe Barn, now listed Grade II* has
had many uses over the years. Now restored to its near
original state we offer this impressive building for hire,
capturing an age gone by but with modern conveniences
discreetly at hand. |
